Our History

Vescio Funeral Homes has proudly been family owned and operated since 2002. We started with only four family members and then over time, grew into a large corporation. Since the very beginning we have been known for, and continue to be known for our impeccable service. We believe in tradition within our services and consistently remain up to par with our 5 star service. We consider it an honour to have a reputation of being the best in the business and continue to please families, rising above their expectations.
Luigi Vescio Sr’s journey in funeral service started from a young age. In his younger years he served and volunteered his time at St. Roch’s Roman Catholic Church located in Toronto near Islington Ave and Finch Ave. After assisting with many funeral services, Luigi decided to become a funeral director. He completed the Funeral Services Education Program at Humber College in 1990 and became licensed by the Board of Funeral Services in 1991. Luigi learned early in his career that every family that walks into the funeral home must be provided with his utmost attention to detail and honored with only the very best service.

This standard for 5-star service has been passed on to the more than 50 caring professionals who work at Vescio Funeral Homes.

In July of 2002, Luigi Vescio Sr. and his wife Rose opened their first funeral home on Weston Road in Woodbridge. It all began with only four of Luigi’s family members working day and night to strive to provide superior service to the bereaved families of Woodbridge. Over the years, Rose Vescio has re-designed and re-furnished the entire funeral home multiple times to ensure every family will experience a modern and elegant space to honour their loved one.

In 2012, the Vescio Family opened a new location in Toronto on Dufferin Street just north of Rogers Road. The funeral home on Dufferin Street was designed, customized and re-built by the Vescio Family to offer modern, bright, and spacious facilities which are hard to find in Toronto. The family also invested in a large parking lot of over 100 spaces just a few steps south of the funeral home to ensure every guest has a free and secure place to park their vehicle when visiting the funeral home.

Following in Luigi Vescio Sr.’s footsteps are his children Luigi Jr. and Laura. In 2019, Luigi and Rose’s son Luigi Jr., joined the Vescio team as a Licensed Funeral Director. Luigi Jr. promotes and shares the same principles as his parents and has been an integral part of the funeral home’s expansions. In 2021, the team welcomed Luigi and Rose’s daughter Laura Vescio to the team as a licensed funeral director. Laura works each day in the arrangement offices and strives at providing each family meaningful personalized funeral services.

In 2019, the Vescio Family opened it newest location in Maple, Ontario. The funeral home is situated on manicured grounds on McNaughton Road just north of Major Mackenzie Drive. This large facility was designed and built with an on-site chapel which seats up to 120 guests, large reception centre, espresso lounge and outdoor patio space. The dedicated team of funeral directors at the Maple Chapel are experienced in serving all cultures and faiths.

Over the years, Vescio Funeral Homes has given back to the community by supporting many local charities, churches, and community groups. In addition, it sponsors and hosts a field trip annually for the students at Humber College to educate future funeral directors on different faith-based traditions.
