Grieving During COVID-19

While COVID-19 restrictions have made it difficult for families to gather and grieve, we at Vescio Funeral Home are here to help. There is nothing more important to us than the safety and well-being of our staff and community. We are constantly working hard to adapt to the fluid changes of guidelines put in place by the Government of Ontario. We want you to feel confident that we are doing everything possible to make sure you and your family feel safe when taking part in funeral services and visitations. To help lower the risk of spreading COVID-19, here are some of our visitor guidelines and alternatives to traditional services.

Connect Virtually

We provide livestream services during visitations, funeral services in our facilities to at a church offsite, and as well at committal services at cemeteries. Our livestream services are recorded and made available to you and your loved ones even if they are not able to watch the services live.

Mandatory Social Distancing

  • Arranged/Assigned/Marked seating areas so that attendees can find their seats easily and not wander.
  • A minimum of two meters/six feet of distance between individuals that do not live in the same household.
  • Avoid hugging, kissing, and shaking hands. A simple smile and nod can be used to show an expression of sympathy.

Use of face masks, hand hygiene and sanitizing washrooms

  • Face masks are mandatory to enter the funeral home. If you do not have a face mask, we will provide one for you.
  • We clean and disinfect our washroom facilities every 15 minutes during visitations and services.
  • Hand sanitizers are stationed throughout each room of our funeral home for your convenience.

New Health Screening of staff, families, and visitors

Health screening for all staff and visitors attending the facility before entering.  Those who have been experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, have been in contact with someone who has tested positive, or has travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days are asked not to enter our facilities.

At Vescio Funeral Home, we understand that these restrictions may come as an inconvenience when trying to grieve the loss of a loved one. Although some families may disagree with our guidelines, we ask that anyone visiting our funeral homes respects these protective measures to keep everyone safe. Feel free to contact us to learn more about our restrictions and guidelines during COVID-19.
