DOMINICIS, EMMA (nee Castiglione) - It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of our dear mother, Emma on Friday, October 30, 2020 in her 88th year at Mackenzie Health Hospital. We are grateful that in the last weeks of her life, our dear mother was devotedly cared for at home by her daughter Adriana. Recently predeceased by her beloved husband of 64 years, Francesco Ettore. Loving mother of Salvatore (Franca), Rosa (Vito DeMola) and Adriana. Adored grandmother of: Michael, Alessia, Jessica, Julia, Stefan and Jenna. Emma was one of eleven children born to Luigi Castiglione and Maria (nee Granieri) in Spezzano della Sila, Cosenza, Calabria, Italy on December 12, 1931. As the eldest daughter, Emma was a second mother to her brothers and sisters. She was predeceased by her brother Pasquale (Irene). Emma will be sadly missed by her brothers and sisters Francesco (Rosaria), Irene (Arnaldo Tarantino), Rita (Mario Malizia), Mariano (Irene), Lidia (Francesco Gallo), Margherita (Salvatore Monaco), Fausto (Ambra), Antonio (Anna) and Costanza (Roberto Pupo). She will remain forever in the hearts of her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Emma was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Above all else, Emma’s legacy will be her commitment to her family.
A Private Family Funeral Service will take place at Vescio Funeral Home followed by a Private Family Entombment at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Emma may be made to the Alzheimer Society of York Region. (www.alzheimer-york.com) or call 1-888-414-5550.
